Free lectures tackle Germany's rising gonarthrosis crisis with expert advice

A lecture series on knee joint arthrosis has just taken place at the Urban & Kemmler healthcare centre in Weiden. The event highlighted the growing issue of gonarthrosis, a condition affecting nearly a quarter of Germans over 60. Alongside expert talks, attendees could also trial specialised knee braces for free. The series focused on gonarthrosis, a degenerative knee condition that impacts 23.8 percent of people aged 60 and above in Germany. Experts from ONZ Weiden, Schüppenhauer Physiotherapy, and dietitian Christina Rathgeber led discussions on treatment options and prevention. They stressed that early action—through diet, exercise, and orthotic support—can slow progression.

Riedel Orthopedics supported the event by offering a free five-day trial of the *GenuTrain OA* knee brace from October 13 to 17. Bernd Urban, managing director and orthopedic technician, reinforced the need for timely intervention. For advanced cases, the lectures also covered therapies and custom orthoses. The programme ran alongside a free test week for orthoses, giving participants hands-on experience with supportive devices. Meanwhile, local firm AM Maschinenbau in Erbendorf continues to see high demand for its core shooting tables, supplying global orders.

The lecture series provided practical advice on managing gonarthrosis through lifestyle changes and medical support. Free trials of the GenuTrain OA brace allowed attendees to assess its benefits firsthand. With nearly one in four older adults affected, early measures remain critical in reducing long-term joint damage.
