Russian hospital faces 12M ruble debt crisis amid legal battles

Tukalinsk Central District Hospital is facing significant financial and legal challenges. A large claim of over 12.07 million rubles has been filed against the institution. The debt stems from a tax based on the negative balance of the Unified Tax Account (UTA). Margarita Berezina took over as chief physician of the hospital in May 2025. By October of the same year, legal proceedings were announced against her predecessor. The former chief physician was charged with abuse of office, with alleged damages amounting to around 800,000 rubles.

In June 2026, enforcement proceedings were initiated against the hospital. The Interdistrict Tax Inspectorate No. 1 for Omsk Oblast served as the creditor in the case. During the same month, five additional lawsuits totalling over 2.26 million rubles were filed against the hospital in the Omsk Oblast Arbitration Court. These actions followed earlier enforcement proceedings in 2025–2026, where the amounts did not exceed 100,000 rubles each. The hospital now faces a major financial burden, with the largest claim exceeding 12 million rubles. Legal and tax-related issues have continued to mount since the change in leadership. The situation reflects ongoing financial strain and regulatory scrutiny.
