Teen Hospitalized After Swallowing Gasoline While Fixing Scooter

A 16-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with acute gasoline poisoning after trying to siphon fuel from a canister. The incident occurred while he was repairing his scooter. Doctors confirmed he had ingested a large amount of fuel using a hazardous method involving his mouth. The boy attempted to create suction in a hose by using his mouth. This led to him swallowing a significant quantity of gasoline. He was taken to Nakhodka City Hospital 3.5 hours after the incident and was admitted to intensive care.

His condition later stabilised, and he was moved to the pediatric ward. Medical staff continue to monitor him for potential complications. Gasoline exposure can severely harm the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system. It may also cause chemical pneumonia, which can result in respiratory failure. The Primorsky Territory Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are examining the teen’s living conditions and child welfare concerns. The boy remains under medical observation as doctors assess his recovery.
