Medkart Assured Launches to Guarantee Generic Medicine Safety Amid Rising Concerns

Medkart Pharmacy has launched a new transparency initiative to tackle concerns about generic medicine quality. Called Medkart Assured, the programme aims to reassure patients about the safety and effectiveness of affordable treatments. It comes as doubts about generics persist, particularly in critical areas like oncology and cardiovascular care. A 2025 study revealed widespread patient scepticism about generic medicines. These concerns were most pronounced in treatments for heart conditions and cancer. The same year, India saw 1,879 drug samples declared Not of Standard Quality, a sharp rise from 2024. Many of these were common medications, including antibiotics, cardiovascular drugs, and anti-diabetic treatments.

In response, Medkart Pharmacy introduced Medkart Assured. The initiative ensures all approved products come from manufacturers meeting Schedule M and WHO GMP standards. Each item undergoes two rounds of independent testing before receiving the Medkart Assured label. The pharmacy also plans to release a detailed report on testing volumes, rejection rates, and quality protocols.

Medkart Pharmacy is also training its staff to address patient questions. Pharmacists will explain quality differences and clarify why affordability does not mean lower safety. The company’s message is clear: patients should not have to choose between cost and reliability. The Medkart Assured programme will publish its testing and rejection data openly. This move aims to build trust in generic medicines. Patients will have access to clear information about the products they rely on.
