Vietnam's medical community unites to tackle non-communicable disease challenges

A recent conference series in Vietnam focused on improving access to high-quality medicines for non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The events took place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 14 and in Hanoi on June 27, drawing significant participation from the medical community. Non-communicable diseases account for nearly 80% of all deaths in Vietnam. The sessions addressed technology transfer for sustainable medicine access and shared updates on emerging trends in NCD management.

More than 800 doctors attended in person, with around 1,000 healthcare professionals joining virtually. Prof. Nguyen Lan Viet emphasised the role of scientific forums in enhancing patient care. The technology transfer project for selected originator medicines has already received marketing authorisation from the Ministry of Health.

Viatris, which established its presence in Vietnam five years ago, organised the programme. Radhika Bhalla, head of Viatris Vietnam and Asia Alliance Markets, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the medical community. The firm has engaged in scientific exchanges and professional collaborations to strengthen healthcare partnerships. The conference series provided a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. The approved technology transfer project marks a step towards better medicine availability for NCD patients. Viatris continues to play an active role in Vietnam’s healthcare development through such initiatives.
