Emergency Surgery Saves Pregnant Woman and Unborn Child in Vladivostok
A pregnant woman at five months was rushed to Vladivostok Clinical Hospital No. 1 with severe abdominal pain and a high fever. Doctors quickly identified her condition as phlegmonous appendicitis, a serious infection requiring urgent surgery. Surgeons decided on a laparoscopic appendectomy to remove the inflamed appendix. The procedure involved small incisions rather than a large abdominal cut. They also irrigated the abdominal cavity thoroughly to prevent further infection.
The operation was led by Igor Kondrashov, head of the general surgery department. He confirmed the surgery went smoothly and without complications. Both the mother and the unborn child remained stable throughout the process.
This case follows another recent emergency at the hospital. Medics had previously treated a tourist from Nakhodka who suffered a ruptured ectopic pregnancy after returning from China. The patient is now in stable condition and preparing to leave the hospital. The successful surgery ensured the safety of both the mother and the fetus. Doctors have confirmed her recovery is progressing well.
