Palghar launches bold healthcare reforms to save mothers and children

Palghar district administration has announced a series of measures to improve healthcare services. The initiatives aim to strengthen maternal and child health, upgrade medical infrastructure, and expand access to treatment under government schemes. Several new hospitals were empanelled in May 2026 to support these efforts. The district will launch an Anaemia-Free Campaign to screen individuals aged 0-40 for Sickle Cell Disease. Targeted interventions will also address severe anaemia cases. Additionally, Ayushman Bharat registration camps will run alongside Revenue Department camps to ensure full coverage of eligible beneficiaries.

Proposals are underway to install advanced TB NAAT diagnostic machines and digital X-ray facilities in Palghar. Women’s Self-Help Groups will prepare nutritious supplementary food for children with Severe Acute Malnutrition and Moderate Acute Malnutrition in high-risk areas.

Maternal and Child Control Rooms have been set up at district, taluka, and Primary Health Centre levels. These will monitor pregnant women and newborns closely. Every maternal death in the district will now undergo a detailed review to identify gaps and improve referral systems.

Medical Officers have been directed to stay at their assigned Primary Health Centres and Rural Hospitals for round-the-clock service. GPS tracking will also be introduced for 108 and 102 ambulances in remote talukas to enhance response times and accountability. The new measures will enhance emergency medical services and public health infrastructure in Palghar. They are designed to reduce maternal and child mortality, improve diagnostic capabilities, and ensure better access to healthcare for all residents.
