Epic Cupid Transforms Cardiovascular Care with Seamless EHR Integration
Epic has developed a Cardiovascular Information System called Epic Cupid. It integrates with existing hospital systems like PACS and ECG to support cardiology workflows. The tool is designed for both invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular procedures. Epic Cupid operates as part of the Epic Electronic Health Record. It captures cardiovascular procedures as structured, reportable data and uses this to generate clinical reports. The system also standardises cardiology reports for consistent documentation and continuity of care.
Epic Cupid provides interactive diagrams for coronary arteries, interventions, and wall motion. It includes structured templates with wall-scoring diagrams for echocardiography. These features help clinicians document procedures accurately.
The application covers three service lines: general cardiology, electrophysiology, and vascular medicine. It supports documentation-based charging, where charges are applied based on what was recorded during a study. Epic Cupid also reports data to registries, including the American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR). Epic Cupid ensures cardiovascular data is visible to the wider care team. It helps hospitals meet registry participation requirements, which are linked to cath lab accreditation and CMS coverage rules. The system streamlines workflows and improves data consistency across cardiology services.
