Khabarovsk launches telemedicine pilot to ease outpatient care burdens

The Khabarovsk Regional Clinical and Diagnostic Center is launching a telemedicine pilot program. It forms part of the federal Efficient and Competitive Economy national project. The initiative targets patients with circulatory system diseases who need outpatient monitoring. Over 11,000 patients in Khabarovsk Krai currently require outpatient monitoring. Many face irregular visits and a shortage of medical staff. The new program aims to address these issues by reducing paperwork, unnecessary travel, and redundant procedures.

The first visit remains in-person, including a standard examination and a personalised action plan. After this, patients submit self-tracked health data remotely. Doctors then decide if further in-person visits are necessary based on the reported condition.

Staff at the centre will receive special training in telemedicine. Experts from the Regional Competence Center will provide the instruction. The program seeks to improve outpatient care for patients with circulatory diseases. It also aims to streamline processes and reduce strain on limited medical resources. Training for staff is set to begin shortly.
