Kauvery Hospital Chennai launches Tamil Nadu's first advanced PFA programmes for heart rhythm disorders

Kauvery Hospital Chennai has introduced two advanced Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) programmes in Tamil Nadu. This marks the first time PulseSelectTM and VaripulseTM, along with a 3D mapping-integrated PFA platform, have been launched in the state. The move aims to improve treatment for heart rhythm disorders, particularly atrial fibrillation. Pulsed Field Ablation is a next-generation treatment that uses precisely controlled electrical pulses. It selectively targets and eliminates cells causing abnormal heart rhythms. The method also reduces damage to surrounding structures like the oesophagus, phrenic nerve, and blood vessels, enhancing patient safety.

The new programmes feature Medtronic PulseSelectTM at the Alwarpet centre and Biosense Webster VaripulseTM at Vadapalani. The Vadapalani facility includes an advanced 3D cardiac mapping system. Both platforms were launched simultaneously, reinforcing Kauvery Hospitals’ leadership in cardiac care.

Dr. N.S. Sivakadaksham inaugurated the hospital’s new 'Heart Rhythm Package', an affordable evaluation programme for early diagnosis. The Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology already provides comprehensive care, including diagnostics and complex ablation procedures. Three patients, including a 69-year-old woman with recurrent palpitations, have already undergone successful PFA treatments at the centres. The introduction of PulseSelectTM and VaripulseTM platforms expands access to advanced heart rhythm treatments in Tamil Nadu. These programmes offer safer, more precise interventions for patients with atrial fibrillation. The new technology is now available at Kauvery Hospitals’ Alwarpet and Vadapalani locations.
