Saxony-Anhalt's Heart Week 2026 urges early action against cardiovascular risks

Saxony-Anhalt will hold its seventh annual Heart Week from June 15 to 19, 2026. The event aims to raise awareness about cardiovascular health through a series of public initiatives. Partners involved in the campaign are encouraging residents to prioritise heart health during this period. Heart Week will highlight the importance of early risk detection for cardiovascular diseases. Even minor symptoms can develop into serious conditions if left unchecked. Physicians advise taking preventive check-ups when recommended and keeping vaccinations up to date to support heart health.

Dr. Jörg Böhme, Chairman of KVSA, has urged the public to 'listen to your heart' as part of the campaign. Around 1,600 primary and specialist physicians across Saxony-Anhalt are prepared to provide comprehensive care for heart and circulatory diseases. These doctors will play a central role in the week’s activities.

The initiative also promotes a balanced lifestyle as a key factor in maintaining a healthy heart. This includes eating a nutritious diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and avoiding addictive substances. In emergencies, the public is reminded to call 112 immediately and begin first aid if a life is at risk. Heart Week will bring together medical professionals and the public to address cardiovascular health. The campaign seeks to educate people on prevention, early detection, and emergency response. Residents are encouraged to participate and take proactive steps for their heart health.
