Komi Republic expands free social services to 18,000+ residents in 2025
Over 18,000 residents of the Republic of Komi currently receive social services. The region provides support to a wide range of eligible groups, including senior citizens, veterans, and people with disabilities. The Republic of Komi offers free social services to various categories of residents. These include veterans and disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War, minors, victims of emergencies, and those who worked during the war. Athletes with medals from international or national competitions are also eligible, as are participants in the special military operation and their families.
At present, 12,600 citizens access these services free of charge in all available formats. Among the recipients, 14,400 are senior citizens. The region operates 10 residential care facilities and 6 specialized inpatient units to support elderly citizens and people with disabilities.
From autumn 2025, women in difficult life circumstances will join the list of those eligible for free semi-residential services. Currently, residents with disabilities aged 18 to 35 can already access these services in the same format. The Republic of Komi continues to expand its social service offerings. Free support remains available to a growing number of groups, with infrastructure in place to meet their needs. The changes in 2025 will further broaden access to these services.
