Krasnodar Krai boosts emergency heart care with telemedicine expansion

Krasnodar Krai is expanding its network of telemedicine-equipped primary vascular units as part of the national Long and Active Life project. These facilities aim to improve emergency care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, the region’s leading cause of illness. Five tele-PVUs are currently operational across Krasnodar Krai. They are equipped with CT scanners and intensive care facilities, enabling remote support from doctors at the region’s 12 vascular centres. This system allows specialists to assist in diagnosis and treatment without being on-site.

Since the start of the year, nearly 14,000 patients with cardiovascular diseases have received treatment in these units. Over 130 patients have been cared for in 2025 alone, with more than 110 treated last year. The expansion has already strengthened emergency care capacity in the region.

Another tele-PVU is set to open in Abinsky District by the end of 2025. This follows ongoing efforts under the national project to extend access to advanced cardiovascular care. With heart disease affecting thousands annually, the tele-PVUs provide critical support. Over 17,000 cardiovascular surgeries are performed each year in Krasnodar Krai. The new units and planned expansions are expected to further improve treatment outcomes for patients.
