Ukraine Approves MAC OWL Armored Vehicle for Frontline Combat Use
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has approved the MAC OWL armoured vehicle for use by the Armed Forces. The vehicle, also known as Sova, was designed to counter threats seen in the war against Russia, including landmines and FPV drones. The MAC OWL belongs to the mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) class. It meets NATO STANAG 4569 Level 4a/4b mine-protection standards, offering high resistance to explosions. Reinforced side armour provides additional defence against artillery fragments.
The vehicle can carry up to 10 electronic warfare modules to disrupt radio-controlled drones. An independent suspension system improves its mobility on rough terrain. Development involved cooperation between MAC HUB and Paramount Industries Innovation Systems Greece, blending international expertise with Ukrainian battlefield needs.
MAC HUB Director Oleksandr Dubyna stated that the design incorporated direct feedback from Ukrainian troops. Defence Blog describes the MAC OWL as the most highly protected domestically produced armoured vehicle in its category. The MAC OWL has now received official approval for military service. Its advanced protection and electronic warfare capabilities aim to address current combat challenges. The vehicle follows earlier innovations like Inguar Defence’s Inguar-4 armoured recovery vehicle.
