Moscow hospital triples cardiac care with cutting-edge technology and new units
City Clinical Hospital No. 4 has expanded its cardiac care services over the past three years. Since 2021, the hospital has introduced specialised departments for cardiology and interventional treatments. Recent figures show a steady increase in procedures, with hundreds of patients receiving advanced care. The hospital launched its X-ray Endovascular Surgery and Cardiology Department (RESC) on 1 April 2021. The unit was equipped with a Philips Azurion angiographic system, allowing for precise diagnostic and treatment procedures. Under the leadership of Askar Salimovich Narimbayev, the department now handles both emergency and planned cardiac cases, including coronary angiography and stenting.
In 2022, the hospital opened a 12-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit (CICU). This specialised ward focuses on patients with circulatory disorders, offering round-the-clock hemodynamic monitoring. Staff track vital signs such as ECG, blood pressure, and heart rate, particularly for those recovering from minimally invasive interventions.
Over the past year, the RESC department treated 240 patients. Procedures included 114 coronary artery stenting operations, 3 pacemaker implantations, 14 uterine artery embolisations, and 2 radiofrequency ablations. The cardiology department, now headed by Rizvangul Borisovna Yakupova, supports these efforts with full diagnostic capabilities. Patients undergo examinations using ECG, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, ultrasound, CT, MRI, X-rays, endoscopy, and laboratory tests.
The hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation programme complements its treatment services. Patients receive follow-up care to aid recovery and manage long-term heart health. The expansion of cardiac services at City Clinical Hospital No. 4 has increased access to advanced treatments. With specialised departments, modern equipment, and a focus on both intervention and recovery, the hospital continues to develop its role in regional healthcare. The latest data reflects a growing number of patients benefiting from these services.
