Krefeld Drug Support Centre Receives Vital Donation to Aid Addiction Services
A drug support centre in Krefeld is receiving extra help thanks to a recent donation from Meerbusch’s municipal staff council. The facility, run by Caritas and Diakonie, provides essential services for severely addicted individuals, including medical care, counselling, and a safe space for daily needs. Staff have welcomed the contribution as a vital boost for their work. The Krefeld centre supports between 50 and 80 regular clients each week. Visitors can access addiction counselling, prevention services, and a medically supervised area for drug use. The facility also offers practical help, such as laundry, showers, meals, and a place to talk.
Alongside the main building, the ‘Medi-Mobil’—a mobile medical unit—visits the same locations weekly to provide healthcare. Services range from pain relief to wound treatment, with an emphasis on building trust through reliability. The unit’s consistent schedule helps homeless individuals feel secure in seeking help.
Michael Marschall, chair of Meerbusch’s staff council, has publicly backed the centre’s efforts. His team’s donation was acknowledged by Jasmin Sprünken, the centre’s director, who highlighted its importance in maintaining critical support for vulnerable people. The donation will assist the centre in continuing its range of services, from medical supervision to basic hygiene support. With the ‘Medi-Mobil’ and on-site facilities, the team ensures that those struggling with addiction receive both immediate care and long-term guidance. The collaboration between local organisations and municipal backers helps keep these essential services running.
