Football club unites to find stem cell donor for 3-year-old Hannes

A local football club is rallying to help a three-year-old boy fighting leukaemia. Hannes needs a stem cell transplant to survive, and his community is stepping up to find a match. SV Niersia Neersen has organised a summer tournament to raise awareness and support the search for a donor. SV Niersia Neersen is hosting a tournament with fourteen teams on the pitch. The event kicks off at 11 AM, with a DKMS swabbing station opening later at the clubhouse on Pappelallee 67 in Neersen. From 12 PM to 3 PM, volunteers will collect saliva samples with a simple cheek swab to help find a potential donor for Hannes.

The club’s U11 team and their coaches are actively supporting the effort. Hannes’ father has previously donated stem cells himself, saving another person’s life in the past. More details about the event and how to help are available at www.niersia1919.de and www.dkms.org. The tournament aims to raise awareness for Hannes’ urgent need for a stem cell donor. The DKMS station will provide an easy way for attendees to register as potential donors. Organisers hope the event will bring the community together for a life-saving cause.
