Poisoning cases in Omsk Oblast saw notable shifts between 2024 and 2025. While narcotic substances remained the top cause, alcohol-related incidents declined sharply. Official figures also revealed changes in the distribution of cases across urban and rural areas.
In 2025, narcotic substances were the leading cause of poisoning in Omsk Oblast, responsible for 35.1% of all recorded cases. Alcohol followed as the second most common cause, accounting for 26% of incidents. Pharmaceutical drugs ranked third, making up 24% of poisonings.
The overall number of alcohol-related poisonings dropped significantly, falling by 23.3% compared to 2024. The share of such cases also decreased by 1.1% over the same period. Adults made up the vast majority of these incidents, representing 89% of alcohol and surrogate alcohol poisonings. Drug-related poisonings also saw a reduction, with their share declining by 6.3% from the previous year. Geographically, most cases occurred in the city of Omsk, where 81% of all poisonings were recorded. The remaining 19% took place in rural districts.
The latest data highlights a downward trend in both alcohol and drug-related poisonings in Omsk Oblast. Narcotic substances still lead as the primary cause, but their proportion has decreased. Most incidents continue to be concentrated in urban areas, particularly within the city of Omsk.
