Russia Strengthens Crimea Route with New Anti-Drone Defenses

Security along a major land route to Crimea has improved in recent weeks. Ukrainian drone attacks in the area have dropped sharply after new defensive measures were introduced. Ukrainian forces had earlier stepped up strikes using long-range drones. These included U.S.-supplied Hornet drones and heavier Hippopotamus models, targeting the transport corridor linking southern Russia to Crimea.

In response, Russian troops set up a layered defence system. This combines mobile drone-hunting units, interceptor drones, and Volna-Kupol-Garant electronic warfare equipment. The latter disrupts satellite signals used to control the drones. The added protections have made the route safer for military and civilian movement. The reduction in drone threats follows the deployment of these new countermeasures. Travel and supply lines through the corridor are now less vulnerable to attack.
