Atyrau's New Rehabilitation Centre Expands Support for 27,000 People with Disabilities

A new social rehabilitation centre for people with disabilities has officially opened in Atyrau. The facility marks a significant step in expanding support services for the region’s 27,000 residents with disabilities. Designed to foster inclusivity, it will provide specialised care across multiple areas of need. The centre was established following directives from the head of state during the Fourth National Kurultai. Its launch aims to double the number of people receiving rehabilitation each year. Previously, around 1,100 individuals accessed such services annually—now, capacity has expanded to accommodate up to 150 patients at once.

The facility offers a wide range of therapies, including mechanotherapy, sensory integration, and occupational workshops. Therapy rooms, art studios, and dedicated spaces for speech and psychological support are also available. A team of 189 specialists—doctors, nurses, psychologists, and educators—will deliver care tailored to each patient’s needs. Services are structured around six core areas: social and domestic support, medical care, psychological assistance, education, vocational training, and cultural activities. The centre will focus on children aged 3 to 18 with conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, and musculoskeletal disorders.

The opening of this centre strengthens Atyrau’s social infrastructure. It will provide more children and families with access to essential rehabilitation programs. The expanded capacity and specialised services aim to improve long-term outcomes for those with disabilities in the region.
