Russia allocates 1.7 billion rubles for free medications and medical aid

The Russian government has announced a major funding boost for free medications, medical supplies, and therapeutic nutrition. Over 1.7 billion rubles will be distributed to support eligible citizens across the country. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the directive to release the additional funds. Sverdlovsk Oblast will receive more than 50 million rubles under the new allocation. This makes it the third-highest funded region in Russia for this purpose. The region already leads in pharmaceutical provisions, with 10.5 billion rubles set aside in its 2026 budget.

The support targets specific groups, including disabled individuals, Chernobyl survivors, combat veterans, and World War II participants. Each patient’s needs are assessed by their treating physician to determine the required medications and supplies.

Governor Denis Pasler has also supported measures to maintain housing allowances for medical workers. This comes as hospitals in the region undergo reorganisation. The additional funds will ensure continued access to essential medical support for vulnerable groups. Sverdlovsk Oblast’s significant allocation reflects its commitment to healthcare provisions. The directive reinforces existing regional efforts to assist eligible citizens.
