Faith and unity shine at Grand Canyon University's 27 Avenue Prayer Breakfast

Local leaders from churches, businesses, nonprofits, communities, and schools came together for Grand Canyon University’s second annual 27 Avenue Prayer Breakfast. The event aimed to unite the community under the theme of dependence on the Lord and the importance of prayer in their work. 27Collab, a community organisation, hosted the breakfast with a goal to transform the 27 Ave. corridor into a thriving hub for neighbourhoods, education, and businesses. The group’s collective mission centres on safety, restoration, and redevelopment in the area.

Christ Church Pastor K.J. Gould led the gathering at Love International Ministries. Love International Ministries Pastor John Ramos noted the diversity of attendees, highlighting the broad representation of the community.

Miguel and Gladys Perez, co-founders of Starts with the Heart, shared their story of meeting in a drug house and now running a nonprofit supporting homeless and underserved families. GCU police officer Francisco Lerma-Trillo recounted his personal testimony of finding faith after a life-changing motorcycle accident at 16. Eric and Eileen Bolze, co-owners of E2 Innovations, spoke about living a life of love as a pleasing offering to Christ. The prayer breakfast served as a reminder for attendees to ground their efforts in prayer. It reinforced the shared commitment to faith and community transformation among those present.
