A new film starring Jeremiah Daniels, a Colorado teen with Down syndrome, is now streaming on Netflix. The movie, Color Book, has already won 30 awards at film festivals and arrives just in time for Father’s Day weekend. Jeremiah Daniels recently spoke on a panel to open the 6th International Conference of the Trisomy 21 Research Society. The event highlighted advancements in Down syndrome research, including therapies in the approval pipeline that could further extend lifespans, which have already doubled.
Michelle Sie Whitten, President and CEO of the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, expressed hope that clinical trials will soon improve health outcomes for those with the condition. Jeremiah’s father, Terrance Daniels, attended the conference and praised the knowledge they gained.
Color Book explores a father’s relationship with his son after a tragedy. Jeremiah, who calls his father his superhero, has a passion for speed and compares himself to the comic book character Mr. Flash. To celebrate, he plans to take his father out to Ruth’s Chris Steak House. The film’s release coincides with growing progress in Down syndrome research and care. Jeremiah’s success in the movie and his participation in the conference mark significant personal and community milestones.
