Quick CPR and emergency response save woman after cardiac arrest in Yakutsk

A 60-year-old woman collapsed from cardiac arrest on a street in Yakutsk on 4 June. Bystanders and medical professionals worked quickly to revive her. She regained consciousness and began breathing on her own the following day. The woman had suffered chest pain for months but had not sought treatment. When she collapsed, a male driver stopped to help before emergency services arrived. Svetlana Pashkova, a paramedic, guided bystanders on how to perform CPR over the phone.

Lydia Vinokurova, an emergency physician, then took over and administered CPR until an ambulance reached the scene. The woman was rushed to hospital within six minutes of the emergency call. Doctors performed selective coronary angiography and stenting to restore blood flow to her heart.

Emergency services are now searching for the male driver who first assisted the woman. They also remind the public to call an ambulance only in genuine life-threatening situations. The woman’s rapid treatment and transport saved her life. Medical staff continue to monitor her recovery. Authorities stress the importance of timely intervention in such emergencies.
