Saxony-Anhalt will host its seventh annual Heart Week from June 15 to 19, 2026. The campaign focuses on improving heart health and preventing cardiovascular disease through public events and education. The initiative is a joint effort by the Ministry of Health, the German Heart Foundation, and other partners. Over 500 pharmacies and schools across the region will take part in activities like fitness checks, medical lectures, and health days.
Key events will be held in Halle (Saale), Magdeburg, Burg, and the Hanseatic City of Stendal. Friso Jansen, Managing Director of the German Heart Foundation, highlighted the campaign’s importance in raising health awareness. Meanwhile, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Saxony-Anhalt is encouraging people to attend preventive check-ups during the week. Petra Grimm-Benne, the state’s Health Minister, stressed that the campaign promotes heart-healthy habits. Saxony-Anhalt has already seen progress, with heart attack mortality dropping by over 40 percent in the last decade.
Heart Week 2026 will offer free health services and educational events across Saxony-Anhalt. Organisers aim to build on past successes by further reducing cardiovascular risks. The campaign runs from June 15 to 19 in multiple cities.
