Multiple Years in Prison for Poisoning Attacks on Rescue Station - Trainee Paramedic Jailed for Poisoning 17 Coworkers with Stolen Drugs
A 25-year-old trainee paramedic has been jailed for poisoning 17 coworkers with stolen prescription drugs. The Heilbronn Regional Court sentenced her to three years and eight months in prison for grievous bodily harm. The case involved multiple incidents between October 2023 and April 2024 at a rescue station in Vaihingen/Enz.
The defendant spiked her colleagues' drinks with atropine, a powerful medication. Victims reported rapid heartbeats, double vision, and other severe symptoms. One paramedic even suffered a medical episode during an emergency call and required hospital treatment.
The woman admitted to the poisonings but insisted she only wanted to 'teach her colleagues a lesson' and 'annoy them'. She denied any intent to harm or kill. Prosecutors had pushed for an attempted murder conviction, but the court rejected this charge. Her first trial collapsed after a lay judge died unexpectedly. A retrial began in mid-December of the previous year, leading to the final verdict.
The Heilbronn court found the trainee guilty of grievous bodily harm. She will serve three years and eight months behind bars. The case has raised concerns about workplace safety and the misuse of prescription medications.
