Tippy Toes Baby Cereal Recalled Over Toxin Risk in Specific Batch

A single batch of Tippy Toes apple, pear, and banana baby cereal has been recalled by Initiative Foods due to high levels of patulin. The contaminated product was sold in plastic two-packs with a best-by date of July 17, 2026. Major US retailers have already pulled the affected stock from shelves.

The recall covers one specific lot of the fruit puree, distributed nationwide except in Alaska. Patulin, a toxin produced by moulds in certain fruits, was found at elevated levels in the batch. While no illnesses have been linked to the product so far, the FDA warns that prolonged exposure may cause nerve damage and weaken the immune system.

At least five large retail chains—ALDI, Walmart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and H-E-B—have confirmed removing the recalled tubs from their stores. The product was sold in a two-pack format, clearly marked with the July 2026 expiry date.

Initiative Foods issued the recall after routine testing detected the contamination. The company has not yet commented on how the mould entered the production process.

Shoppers who purchased the affected Tippy Toes cereal are advised to check the packaging for the July 17, 2026, best-by date. The recalled product should not be consumed, and customers can return it for a refund. The FDA continues to monitor the situation for any reports of illness.
