Thuringia's healthcare survey reveals GP satisfaction but specialist care gaps
Survey: Many satisfied with primary care in Thuringia - Thuringia's healthcare survey reveals GP satisfaction but specialist care gaps
A recent survey in Thuringia has revealed both strengths and challenges in local healthcare. While nearly all residents have a general practitioner, many still face difficulties accessing the right care quickly. The poll, conducted in late 2025, gathered responses from 500 adults across the state.
The survey took place between September 25 and October 21, 2025. It found that almost every resident in Thuringia is registered with a GP. Despite this high coverage, 42% of those polled reported struggles in securing timely care for new health problems.
Satisfaction levels varied between services. A strong 90% of respondents expressed happiness with their GP care. However, only 63% felt the same about specialist services. The results highlight a gap between general and specialised medical support.
Nationwide trends, such as pharmacy reforms and closures, were noted but lacked state-specific comparisons. In 2025 alone, 440 pharmacies shut across Germany. Yet, the survey did not provide data on how Thuringia's healthcare accessibility has changed over the past five years.
The findings show that Thuringia's residents value their GPs but still encounter barriers with specialists. With nearly half struggling to find prompt care, the survey underscores ongoing issues in the state's healthcare system. The lack of long-term data means broader trends remain unclear for now.
