Siberia's Polyany Centre Transforms Children's Health and Confidence
A long-running health programme in Siberia has helped thousands of children recover and recharge over the years. Since 2009, the Polyany rehabilitation centre has welcomed young visitors from across the region, offering medical care and wellness activities. This year, more than 120 children attended, supported by the Melnichenko Foundation. The Polyany facility provides specialised treatment for a wide range of conditions. Children receive care for skin, respiratory, and neurological issues, as well as support for cardiovascular, digestive, and musculoskeletal health. On-site amenities include a physical therapy gym, inhalation rooms, and a neurosensory space, alongside cedar therapy, halotherapy, and balneotherapy suites.
Beyond medical support, the centre runs a busy schedule of creative workshops and neuropsychological training. This year, participants also took part in a Career Guidance Quest and a Professional Quiz. The programme is open to children of employees from SUEK-Krasnoyarsk and the Siberian Generating Company, as well as underprivileged families, orphans, and large households. For many, the trip marks a first experience away from home. Svetlana, whose father works at the Bereozovsky open-pit mine, enjoyed her first independent stay. Nine-year-old Vlad Kharlashin from Nazarovo returned full of enthusiasm, while Olga Bocharova's daughter, an operator at a local chemical plant, also visited Polyany for the first time. Since its launch, the initiative has benefited over 10,000 children, with more than 2,000 attending since 2024 alone.
The Polyany centre continues to expand its reach, offering medical rehabilitation and enrichment activities to children in need. With ongoing support from corporate partners and the Melnichenko Foundation, the programme ensures young visitors receive both treatment and memorable experiences. This year's participants have already shared their excitement about the trip.
