Schiffdorf's €1.2M Regional Supply Center to Transform Rural Healthcare Access

A new Regional Supply Center (RVZ) is set to open in Schiffdorf, Lower Saxony, following a €1.2 million funding boost. The facility will expand medical and social services in the area, aiming to improve access for residents. Minister Melanie Walter highlighted its role in securing quality of life for rural communities. The RVZ in Nordholz is growing, with Schiffdorf chosen as the location for its latest branch. The new centre will host at least one additional doctor's practice, alongside physiotherapy, a pharmacy, and other healthcare services. To ease travel demands, telemedicine and non-physician practice assistants (NAPAs) will also be introduced.

The site will combine essential public services under one roof. Alongside medical care, it will provide day care, assisted living, and a youth welfare contact point. The local social services station will also move into the building, making support more centralised.

Accessibility was a key consideration in planning. The RVZ Schiffdorf will sit in a central spot, reachable by foot, bus, or car. Minister Walter described the project as vital for a future-proof Lower Saxony, ensuring rural areas remain strong and well-served. The €1.2 million investment will fund a facility designed to meet growing community needs. By integrating healthcare, social services, and daily support, the RVZ Schiffdorf aims to reduce travel burdens and improve local living standards. Construction and service rollout will proceed as part of Lower Saxony's broader regional development strategy.
