Russian hospital performs first-ever pacemaker implant surgeries in landmark procedure
Kushchevskaya Central District Hospital (CRH) has carried out its first surgeries to implant single-chamber and dual-chamber electrocardiostimulators. These procedures mark a significant step for the hospital, as no other Russian medical facilities have been publicly recorded performing such implantations. The operations were conducted under a national health initiative aimed at improving cardiovascular care. The surgeries took place as part of a master class led by specialists from the National Medical Research Center named after V.A. Almazov, under the Russian Ministry of Health. Six patients successfully received the devices during the session.
The hospital is part of a broader network in Krasnodar Territory, which includes 12 regional vascular centres, six primary vascular departments, and three tele-PVD units. Yevgeny Filipпов, the acting Minister of Health for the region, highlighted the purchase of advanced equipment to support such complex procedures. This development aligns with the 'Fight Against Cardiovascular Diseases' programme, a key component of Russia's 'Healthy Longevity' national project. The initiative focuses on expanding high-tech and specialised care for patients with heart conditions across the region.
The successful implantations at Kushchevskaya CRH demonstrate the hospital's growing capabilities in advanced cardiac treatment. With new equipment and expert guidance, the facility is now equipped to provide specialised care previously unavailable in the area. These efforts contribute to the region's broader push to improve cardiovascular health services.
