Rishikesh Launches Elderly-Focused Ambulance on International Day for Older Persons
A new ambulance service for elderly residents in Rishikesh has launched on the International Day for Older Persons. The initiative aims to improve emergency medical response times for older citizens in the area. A specially converted MG Hector will now serve as a fully equipped ambulance for Ram Vihar and Prem Nagar.
The project began with an idea from Dr. Jürgen Malzacher, an emergency physician from Germany, who proposed converting the MG Hector into a medical response vehicle in 2023. JSW MG Motor India carried out the transformation, fitting the vehicle with essential equipment. This includes an oxygen system, regulator, auto-loader stretcher, ventilator, and para-monitor.
The Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM), with over 40 years of experience in social welfare, will operate the ambulance. Their goal is to strengthen emergency outreach for the elderly, ensuring faster and safer patient transport during critical situations.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Executive Director of SPYM, thanked JSW MG Motor India for their support. He highlighted how the new ambulance will help provide timely medical assistance to older residents in need.
The converted MG Hector ambulance is now ready for service in Rishikesh. It will focus on improving emergency care access for elderly patients in Ram Vihar and Prem Nagar. The initiative marks a step toward faster and more reliable medical transport in the region.
