Pioneering Surgeon Dr. Mahak Bhandari Earns PhD for Revolutionary Techniques

Dr Mahak Bhandari has been awarded a PhD in Surgery by Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University. His groundbreaking work in modern surgical techniques has earned him global recognition. The achievement was celebrated by Chancellor Dr Manjusree Bhandari and Founder Chairman Dr Vinod Bhandari. Dr Bhandari’s thesis focused on comparing two advanced bariatric procedures: One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB) and Banded One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (BOAGB) with a fixed biliopancreatic limb of 180 cm. His research has contributed to improved patient outcomes in weight-loss surgery.

He is also known for pioneering India’s first successful tele-robotic hernia surgery. In a bold move, he launched the Surgeon on Wheels programme, performing a tele-robotic operation from a moving bus. This innovation demonstrated the potential of remote surgery in expanding medical access.

Beyond research, Dr Bhandari has conducted countless surgeries across Indore, Ratlam, and other regions. His expertise spans robotic, laparoscopic, and bariatric metabolic procedures. Currently, he serves as Managing Director of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences. An alumnus of MGM Medical College in Indore and DY Patil Medical College in Mumbai, his career reflects a commitment to advancing surgical care. Dr Bhandari’s work has raised standards in patient treatment, particularly in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. His achievements continue to influence medical practice in India and beyond. The recognition of his PhD further establishes his role as a leader in modern surgical innovation.
