NORD's Virtual Forum Unites Rare Disease Community for Support and Learning
The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) will host its annual Living Rare Living Stronger Patient and Family Forum on June 26-27, 2021. This year’s event moves online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing together patients, families, healthcare workers, and supporters for two days of learning and connection. The forum kicks off on June 26 with an opening discussion titled The Patient-Professional Partnership. Later that day, attendees can join breakout sessions on topics like Coping with Grief and Anticipatory Grief and Navigating Insurance, Social Security Disability and Patient Assistance Programs. A total of 55 speakers, including doctors, nurses, and other experts, will lead the conversations.
On June 27, the event closes with a plenary session called *Rare Breakthroughs Now and on the Horizon*. The following day, June 28, the Rare Impact Awards will recognise outstanding contributions in the rare disease community. Registration costs $39 for patients, caregivers, students, and NORD patient organisation representatives. Attendees will receive virtual access details by email the week before the forum begins.
The virtual forum offers a chance for those affected by rare diseases to share experiences and gain support. With expert-led discussions and networking opportunities, the event aims to strengthen connections within the community. Registration remains open for those wishing to take part.
