More than 307,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod Region have completed mandatory medical checkups since January 2026. The results highlight widespread health risks, with chronic illnesses detected in nearly 10,000 individuals during the screenings. The most common risk factor identified was poor diet, affecting 43.9% of those examined. Physical inactivity followed closely, found in 41.9% of residents. High cholesterol was present in 30.3%, while 32.4% were classified as overweight.
Smoking was reported in 26% of participants, and 18.6% showed a high risk of cardiovascular disease. Elevated blood sugar levels were recorded in 8.5% of cases. The screenings revealed that cardiovascular diseases, respiratory conditions, diabetes, and cancer were the most prevalent diagnoses among the population.
The findings provide a detailed snapshot of health trends in the region. With nearly 10,000 cases of chronic illness identified, local health authorities now have data to target prevention and treatment efforts. The high rates of modifiable risk factors suggest potential areas for public health intervention.
