Krasnodar's new vascular centres bring lifesaving heart care closer to home

The Krasnodar Territory has expanded its healthcare services for cardiovascular diseases under the Combating Cardiovascular Diseases programme. A new network of vascular centres now provides advanced treatment across the region, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for patient care.

Residents in five districts can now receive full care credit locally for complex heart rhythm disorders, including pacemaker implants.

The programme initially set up 12 regional vascular centres, six primary vascular departments, and three telemedicine-supported units. Since then, eight more regional vascular centres have opened, broadening access to specialised care.

At the Labinsk Central District Hospital's vascular centre, doctors have already implanted seven pacemakers. Three of these were single-chamber devices, while four were dual-chamber models. The dual-chamber versions help regulate both the upper and lower heart chambers at the same time, improving coordination in patients with irregular rhythms.

The expansion of high-tech medical services means more patients can now receive critical treatments without leaving their home districts. With additional centres operational, the region continues to strengthen its fight against cardiovascular diseases through wider access to specialised care.
