Krasnodar Region Upgrades Medical Care to Battle Heart Disease Epidemic

The Krasnodar Territory has strengthened its fight against cardiovascular diseases with major upgrades to medical facilities. Yevgeny Filipпов, the region's acting health minister, announced new expansions and high-tech equipment under the Fighting Cardiovascular Diseases programme. These developments have already led to thousands of life-saving treatments across the area.

Since the programme's launch, five regional vascular centres (RVCs) and 12 primary vascular departments (PVDs) have opened or expanded. Key locations include Krasnodar, Sochi, Armavir, Kropotkin, Novorossiysk, Anapa, and the Kuban-Steppe and Kuban-Schwarzerde regions. The network now covers 12 RVCs, six PVDs, and three tele-PVDs, ensuring wider access to specialised care.

Over 70 high-tech medical devices were purchased last year alone, enabling more than 500,000 diagnostic examinations. This equipment supports complex procedures, including over 30 arterial embolizations performed in RVCs over the past two years. The Armavir centre has also installed a second angiograph, broadening its capacity for both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

This year, regional vascular centres have carried out more than 9,000 coronary interventions. They have also treated over 17,000 patients with acute cerebrovascular disorders and over 10,000 with acute coronary syndrome. The expanded infrastructure and technology aim to reduce delays in critical care and improve survival rates.

The region's healthcare upgrades have already delivered measurable results. With thousands of interventions completed and new facilities operational, the programme continues to enhance treatment for heart and vascular diseases. Further expansions are expected as the network grows and technology adoption increases.
