Fresh Start for Local Elderly Care: Glottertal Senior Center Gets New Operator

The Glottertal Senior Center is set for a new beginning as Dreisam Sozialmedizinische Pflegebetriebe gGmbH takes over operations from the Caritasverband Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald this Friday, April 24, 2026. According to those involved, the change in management aims to revitalize elderly care services in the Glottertal region.

Plans include a comprehensive care model featuring a range of services: assisted living for seniors, day care for around 20 individuals, and an in-house outpatient nursing service. The goal is to enable residents to maintain as much independence as possible, even with care needs.

A key feature of the new concept is 40 micro-apartments with shared communal living spaces. The facility will also offer short-term and respite care placements, along with round-the-clock staff availability.

The Caritas association confirmed that previous attempts to utilize the building had failed. Now, the center is poised to re-establish itself as a cornerstone of the community. Local authorities in Glottertal have welcomed the fresh start and emphasize the importance of close collaboration with the new operator.

Developed in coordination with the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district office, the initiative aims to ensure long-term, reliable care provision in the region.
