Gifhorn's Heart Weeks campaign teaches life-saving skills this November
The Gifhorn Heart Support Group is taking part in the nationwide Heart Weeks campaign to improve cardiovascular health. The initiative offers public lectures and first-aid training to teach life-saving skills. Events will run throughout November, with expert-led sessions open to all.
The campaign kicks off with a lecture titled 'Healthy Vessels, Healthy Heart: Preventing Heart Attacks' on Wednesday, November 5, at 6:00 PM. Prof. Dr. Michael Niehaus will lead the session at Helios Hospital Gifhorn, Campus 6.
A second lecture on heart disease prevention follows on Wednesday, November 26, at 6:00 PM. Local cardiologists Dr. Thomas Eisen and Johannes Nagel will speak at the DRK Forum Gifhorn. First-aid training courses are also available for heart patients and their partners. These take place on Tuesday, November 25; Thursday, November 27; and Friday, November 28, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the DRK Forum Gifhorn. Each course costs €20 per person, and registration is open via 05371 804480. Other regions are joining the campaign too. Trier's Herzzentrum will host a seminar on *'Healthy Vessels – Healthy Heart'* on December 2, 2025. Lübeck's UKSH will focus on atrial fibrillation and stroke prevention on February 26, 2026. Wetzlar will then hold its own Herzseminar on March 25, 2026.
The Heart Weeks campaign provides both education and practical training in Gifhorn and beyond. Residents can attend lectures or sign up for first-aid courses to learn essential skills. The events aim to reduce heart disease risks and improve emergency response knowledge.
