Emmendingen Celebrates 25 Years of Senior Care Innovation and Support
Senior care services in Emmendingen are marking two major anniversaries this year. The elderly care coordination team celebrates 25 years, while the nursing support point reaches its 15th year. To honour these milestones, an open day will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 2 pm to 6 pm at Bahnhofstraße 2-4 in Emmendingen.
The event invites visitors to explore the facilities, meet the advisory team, and learn about the wide range of support available for older adults and their families.
Over the past two and a half decades, the elderly care coordination has grown into a key hub for senior care planning in the county. Its services now include organising elderly care, recognising support needs, advising local councils, and linking with senior organisations. Meanwhile, the nursing support point has expanded from a single employee to a team of five specialists, offering free and independent advice on all nursing-related matters.
In 2023 alone, the nursing support point assisted 886 new clients—nearly 10% of the 9,140 nursing care recipients in the county. By October 1, 2024, another 999 people had already sought guidance from the service. Katja Ravat, head of the social welfare office, highlights how both facilities play a crucial role in supporting older residents, their carers, and families. The open day will feature a variety of activities. Guests can tour the premises, view an exhibition of everyday aids, and take part in a quiz with a raffle. A dementia trail will also be available to explore. At 4 pm, Dr. Robert Kaufmann, chief physician at Emmendingen District Hospital, will deliver a lecture on stroke awareness and prevention.
The open day offers a chance for the community to engage with local care services and understand the support on offer. With growing demand for elderly and nursing care, these facilities continue to provide essential guidance and coordination. The event reflects their ongoing commitment to improving quality of life for seniors and their families in Emmendingen.
