Dr. Rebecca T. Hahn has been named the recipient of the prestigious TCT® Geoffrey O. Hartzler Master Operator Award. The honour recognises her groundbreaking work in interventional echocardiography, which has transformed how structural heart diseases are diagnosed and treated. She is the first imaging specialist to ever receive this distinction. Dr. Hahn currently serves as Director of Interventional Echocardiography at Columbia University, where she also holds a professorship in medicine. Beyond academia, she leads as Chief Scientific Officer of the Echocardiography Core Laboratory at the CRF Clinical Trials Center. Her research has reshaped the field, turning imaging into an active tool that guides complex procedures in real time.
Over her career, she has authored more than 565 peer-reviewed journal articles and 11 book chapters, focusing on echocardiographic techniques and valvular heart disease. Her leadership in landmark trials—including the SCOUT Trial and Triscend II trial—has directly contributed to FDA approvals for innovative medical devices. These efforts have not only advanced technology but also inspired new educational approaches within the interventional cardiology community. The award will be formally presented at the TCT® annual scientific symposium in San Diego, California, running from October 31 to November 3, 2026. The event will highlight her decades-long impact on improving patient outcomes through precision imaging and tailored treatments.
