Cutting-Edge Medical Equipment Transforms Oncology Care in Jewish Autonomous Oblast
EAOMedia, April 29 – A state-of-the-art medical equipment package, donated by Badma Bashankaev—First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection and coordinator of the Human Health initiative under United Russia's People's Program—to the regional oncology center, has been successfully commissioned and is now in active use by surgeons in daily clinical practice. The equipment, procured with support from the United Russia party and the Friends of Donbas Medicine medical society, has elevated both diagnostic and surgical capabilities in the autonomous region, according to the government of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast.
"We assessed the real needs of local medical facilities and delivered everything essential—everything that makes healthcare here more effective and modern, so that patients no longer need to travel elsewhere for quality treatment," Bashankaev emphasized. "We provided one of the most advanced endoscopy systems for gastroscopy and colonoscopy—flexible endoscopy, without which accurate diagnoses would be impossible. We also brought specialized equipment for modern surgical procedures. In addition, a full set of laparoscopic instruments was delivered, covering the entire spectrum of interventions, including complex surgeries. Now, this equipment will serve the people," he added.
The delivery took place during the parliamentarian's first working visit to the region. Bashankaev noted that timely diagnostics and cutting-edge equipment remain critical to success in the fight against cancer. The new systems are already operational.
Andrey Yerofeyev, head of the oncology center's surgical department, explained that the equipment arrived in two phases: first the endoscopic instruments, followed by an additional portable monitor for surgical visualization. "Fresh instruments are always more comfortable and efficient to work with. The clamps and needle holders function flawlessly, which is crucial for precision," Yerofeyev said. "The second monitor acts as a kind of co-assistant—it significantly eases the surgeon's workload, allowing us to monitor every stage of the procedure and reduce the risk of errors."
Upgrading the center's technical infrastructure directly reduces the strain on federal medical hubs and enables residents of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast to access high-tech oncology care locally. The project's implementation was made possible through coordination by lawmakers, support for party-led healthcare initiatives, and the active involvement of the professional medical community.
