Bangladesh Medical University ensures healthcare continuity during Eid celebrations
Bangladesh Medical University kept its healthcare services running during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. Outpatient departments treated 944 patients on March 19 and March 22 alone. The university also hosted its annual Eid Reunion 2026 on Tuesday, bringing together staff, students, and officials.
The university ensured essential medical services remained open throughout the holiday. Diagnostic facilities, such as laboratory tests, X-rays, and CT scans, stayed operational. Around 500 healthcare workers managed outpatient care, while a similar number provided 24-hour support in wards and emergency units.
On March 21, an Eid congregation took place at the university's central mosque. Special meals were also prepared for patients on the day of Eid. The Eid Reunion 2026 event was held at Shaheed Dr Milon Hall. It featured separate sessions where university authorities met with teachers, healthcare professionals, students, and employees. Acting vice-chancellor Professor Md Abul Kalam Azad attended, along with pro-vice-chancellors, the treasurer, registrar, proctor, and other senior officials.
The university maintained full medical services despite the holiday period. Staff and officials participated in both religious and professional gatherings. No official figures were released on the total number of patients treated across all Eid days.
