Musician Collapses Live on Austrian TV After Performance

During a live television appearance on Saturday evening, a musician suffered a medical emergency: Trumpeter Toni Maier suddenly collapsed in the ORF show "Mei liabste Weis" (My Dearest Tune) moments after performing the "Erzherzog-Johann-Jodler" (Archduke Johann Yodel).

The 77-year-old had to sit down, and host Franz Posch steadied him as producers quickly cut to alternate footage.

Maier received initial medical attention backstage, and the music program—broadcast from Puch bei Weiz in eastern Styria—continued as scheduled. He was later rushed to Graz University Hospital (LKH Graz) for further treatment.

Maier's Condition Now Stable

By Sunday morning, there was positive news: Citing the trumpeter's family, the ORF reported that Maier's condition had stabilized, though he remained under observation. Later that day, the Styrian musician was discharged from the hospital.
