The announcement was made during a press conference by the Regional Communications Service by Yerkebulan Orazalin, head of Almaty's Department of Entrepreneurship and Investment. He emphasized that, despite the pandemic, the city remains an attractive destination for foreign investment and continues to lead the country in this regard.
Orazalin noted that Almaty is currently implementing and developing several new projects with international participation.
"In September, the first branch of Britain's De Montfort University is set to open at Esentai City, and construction will also begin on a new terminal at Almaty International Airport," he said.
The department head added that on August 2, officials met with representatives of the Turkish company Orhun Medical, which plans to invest 17.2 billion tenge in a 150-bed multidisciplinary clinic.
Additionally, on August 11, a memorandum of cooperation was signed for the construction of a modern 200-bed South Korean medical center and laboratory, with Korean investors represented by the company Medical Partners.
In the near future, Russian investors are also expected to begin work on a new Leroy Merlin Kazakhstan hypermarket in Almaty.
