Henkelmann recalls salami over E. coli contamination risk across Germany

Henkelmann GmbH & Co. KG has recalled several salami products due to possible contamination with harmful bacteria. The affected items, sold under the Henkelmann and Küstengold brands, were distributed nationwide. Shoppers are being warned not to eat them. The recall covers two specific products. The first is Henkelmann Salami Spianata Calabra (225g) with best-before dates between April 15 and April 22, 2026, and lot numbers ranging from 11162601 to 11367600. The second is Küstengold KG Pikante Baguette Salami (100g), which has a best-before date of April 29, 2026, and lot number L 1128S2. Both items may contain Shiga toxin-producing E. coli bacteria.

The contaminated salami was sold at major supermarkets, including Netto, Aldi Süd, Edeka, and Rewe. Customers who bought these products are advised not to eat them. Instead, they can return them to any store for a full refund, even without a receipt.

Health officials have highlighted that certain groups face higher risks. Young children, elderly people, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems could suffer more severe effects. Symptoms of infection include diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. Anyone who has eaten the salami and feels unwell should seek medical help immediately. The recall aims to prevent further health risks from the contaminated products. Shoppers should check their fridges for the listed salami and return them if found. Stores will process refunds without requiring proof of purchase.
