Yakutia's vascular centre treats 628 patients in 2024 amid federal health push
Yakutia's regional vascular centre has treated 628 patients since the start of the year. The facility, based at Republican Hospital No. 2, was established 14 years ago to tackle cardiovascular diseases. It now operates as part of a wider federal health initiative aimed at extending life expectancy across Russia. The centre was founded to improve care for heart and blood vessel conditions. Over recent months, it has provided specialised treatment to 344 patients with cerebral circulation disorders and 294 with acute coronary syndromes or heart attacks. Telemedicine services also allow its experts to consult with doctors in other medical facilities.
This year, the centre expanded its reach by incorporating primary vascular departments in Neryungri, Megino-Kangalassky, and Olyokminsky districts. However, public records confirm no new outpatient or inpatient beds have been added in these areas since 2022, with no plans for expansion reported up to 2026. The work runs alongside Russia's *Long and Active Life* national project, launched in 2024. This scheme targets an average life expectancy of 78 years by 2030 and 81 years by 2036. Collaboration with researchers from North-Eastern Federal University supports clinical efforts, while physicians regularly attend conferences on vascular diseases to share findings.
The vascular centre continues to deliver specialised care without expanding bed capacity in its linked districts. Its role in the federal health project remains central to improving heart and stroke treatment in Yakutia. The focus stays on meeting long-term life expectancy goals through research, telemedicine, and targeted medical interventions.
