Russian Wheelchair User Dies in Thailand After Dental Surgery Complications

Ekaterina Panova, a 28-year-old wheelchair user from Russia, has died in Thailand after suffering from blood poisoning. Her family only learned of her death following her repatriation to Russia, despite efforts to save her life. Panova had travelled to Thailand when she developed a severe tooth infection. Doctors removed the affected tooth, but complications arose, leading to a sepsis diagnosis. She was hospitalised in Thailand as her condition worsened.

Despite medical intervention, her health continued to decline. Friends and relatives launched a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of transporting her home. She was eventually flown back to Russia, where she later died. Authorities have not disclosed how many Russian citizens have been repatriated from Thailand for medical emergencies this year.

Panova's death follows a rapid deterioration after dental surgery abroad. Her body was returned to Russia, where her family now faces the loss. The case highlights the risks of medical complications while travelling without immediate access to familiar healthcare support.
