Yakutsk's Health Fair offers free check-ups for elderly on International Day of Older Persons

A 'Health Fair' took place in Yakutsk on October 1st to mark the International Day of Older Persons. The event offered free medical check-ups to elderly residents and people with disabilities at a care home on Pushkin Street, 31/1.

The Yakutsk Republican Clinical Hospital organised the event. A team of specialists, including cardiologists, rheumatologists, and dermatologists, provided consultations. ENT experts, therapists, and ultrasound technicians also took part.

In total, 94 elderly individuals received preventive examinations. The check-ups focused on early detection of diseases affecting the heart, joints, skin, hearing, and lungs. The fair aimed to improve health outcomes by identifying issues before they worsen. All services were provided on-site at the care facility.

The event highlighted the importance of regular health monitoring for older adults. By offering specialist consultations in one location, organisers made it easier for vulnerable groups to access essential medical care. Similar initiatives could be expanded to other regions in the future.
