Biedenkopf clinic enforces masks and limits visits amid flu surge

Hinterland Clinic in Biedenkopf has introduced stricter visiting rules due to a rise in influenza cases. From now on, all visitors must wear masks, and daily visits are limited to two hours. The measures aim to protect patients and staff during the flu season.

The new rules require everyone entering the clinic to wear at least a surgical mask. FFP2 masks are also accepted for added protection. Visitors with flu-like symptoms, such as coughs or fevers, have been asked to stay away.

Hinterland Clinic gGmbH, managed by Konstantin von Heydwolff, operates the facility on behalf of Landkreis Marburg-Biedenkopf. The clinic took over the former DRK-Krankenhaus in Biedenkopf on January 1, 2026. Key officials, including Landrat Jens Womelsdorf and Kreistagsvorsitzender Detlef Ruffert, had previously unveiled the clinic’s new logo earlier that month.

The mask mandate and restricted visiting hours will remain in place until further notice. The clinic has not specified how long the measures will last. Staff will monitor the situation and adjust rules based on infection rates.
